Activities for Pups in Hibernation Mode

indoors 2

The weather outside might be frightful, but we’ve got you covered with ways to keep your dog engaged, active, and happy in these winter months. Here are our top choices for indoor activities, and there should be something for every dog of all sizes and ages!

  1. Hide and Seek
Anxious Dogs

This one is one we’re all familiar with, but it is always a crowd-pleaser with pups because it combines excellent physical and mental stimulation. All you need to do is take a few of their favorite treats, or a small handful of our FreshBaked food, and hide it throughout your house for your dog to sniff out. Depending on your dogs agility, and the rules you have in your house, you can hide them behind cushions or under the blankets on the bed for some added exercise.

  1. Agility Courses

If you have a pup that needs a little extra engagement and exercise then break out the pillows and boxes and set up an agility course in your house. This is a great way to get some exercise in while working on their obedience training too!

  1. DIY Puzzles

When we talk about puzzles we don’t mean your dog is going to start crafting a 1000-piece puzzle, but there are plenty of ways to puzzle and engage your dog’s mind with some household items. You can tuck a couple of treats in a rolled up towel or a sock and you can let your dog sniff them out. While this sounds super simple, it’s a great way for dogs to work their minds right at home.

  1. Tasty Time

A safe bet for all dogs is a sweet treat to pass the time. If you have a lick mat at home you can swipe some peanut butter or yogurt on it for your pup, if you have some more time you can put it in the freezer for some added licking time. If you don’t have a mat at home you can use an old ice tray or Tupperware lid to swipe a treat on.

These are just a few of the ways you can have tail-waggin’ times with your pup while we’re all cooped up inside. Of course, you can fall back on the old faithful fetch if you have the space indoors. We hope these help you stay in hibernation mode while we all wait for the groundhog to poke its head out in a couple of weeks!
