Drink + Dine: Your PetPlate Beverage Pairings Guide

At Your (Bottle) Service!

We’re not one-trick-doggies around here at PetPlate. In fact, one of our beloved PetCare Specialists, Rosario, is a former sommelier! Needless to say, we had to hit him up for custom drinks pairing ideas for our gently-cooked entrées. It’s like hooch for your pooch (full of vitamins instead of booze, of course).

Time to break out the white tablecloths (and the good bowls)!

Keep it classic with an apple aperitif!

Core an apple and remove ALL of the seeds. Cut the apple into slices and put in a blender with 3 cups of water and a sprig of rosemary. Blend into a puree, then transfer to a small saucepot. Bring the mixture to a boil, and simmer for 5 minutes. Strain through a fine mesh strainer and let cool before decanting into their water bowl.

Fresh To Death: If you don’t want to heat this fruit-forward treat, muddle ½ apple and 1 spring of rosemary into the bottom of the water bowl. Fill with 8oz. of water.

For Their Tail Waggin’ Turkey Course

Talk about a Thanksgiving -friendly duo. Bautumns up!

Soak 5 cranberries and 2 springs of oregano in 2 cups of water overnight. Strain the infused water into your dog’s bowl, minus the cranberries and oregano.

Ferment to Be: The longer it sits the tarter it gets, so don’t let this mixture soak for longer than 12 hours.

For Their Lean n’ Mean Venison Course

Swirl, sniff, sip (don’t spit). They’ll detect distinct berry notes in their bowl.

Blend half a pint of black berries with 2 cups of unsweetened almond milk. Make sure there are no added ingredients in the milk. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer, and chill in the fridge for at least an hour. Pour into your dog’s bowl.

Swillin’ and Chillin’: You can also freeze the mixture into ice cubes for a tasty treat.

For Their Barkin’ Beef Course

All that’s missing is a little paper umbrella.

Cut up a seedless watermelon and remove the rind. Blend up 2 cups of watermelon with 4 sprigs of peppermint. Pour right into your pup’s bowl.

Canine Cleanse: Antioxidant-rich watermelon pairs nicely with a rich dish of red meat.

For Their Lip Lickin’ Lamb Course

The Far East influences this drink’s terroir.

Infuse 5 sprigs of Thai basil into 16oz. of unsweetened, unflavored coconut water. Place in the fridge for 12 hours. Remove sprigs of basil, and pour the chilled infusion in their bowl.

Gettin’ Jigger With It: Serve straight-up or on the rocks.

For Their Chompin’ Chicken Course

It’s the ultimate chaser for chicken.

Freeze low sodium, garlic and onion-free chicken broth in an ice cube tray. Brew 1 cup of chamomile tea, and let sit until warm but not hot. When cubes are ready, place into your dog’s bowl. Pour warm chamomile tea over the ice cubes.

Spill the Tea: Chamomile doesn’t contain caffeine, which is a no-no for dogs.
